Dorset-based theatre company Dramatic Productions return to Wimborne’s Tivoli Theatre this summer with a new season of plays which runs from 25 July to 10 August.
Featuring a new play each week, the Wimborne Rep season kicks off with Ian Hislop and Nick Newman’s laugh-a-minute comedy A Bunch of Amateurs. Washed up Hollywood star
Jefferson Steele arrives in England to play King Lear in Stratford – only to find that this is not the birthplace of the Bard, but a sleepy Suffolk village.
From 1-3 August you can see the stage version of classic British sitcom Rising Damp. When
student Alan moves into his new flat, he doesn’t expect to find it already inhabited by a
mysterious African Prince – but his presence is the least of Alan’s worries.
Finally, there’s an edge-of-your-seat thriller with a shocking twist in the shape of Agatha Christie’s Love From A Stranger from 8-10 August. A whirlwind romance with a handsome and charming stranger sweeps Cecily Harrington off her feet and she recklessly abandons her old life to settle in a remote country cottage. However, her newfound love is not all that it seems …
Tracy Murrey, Artistic Director of Dramatic Productions, has lined up a cast featuring some of Dorset’s finest acting talent. Tracy explains: “This year we have chosen three cracking plays which, hopefully, will appeal to everyone. We’re keen to showcase some of our much-loved, local professional actors so expect to see the wonderful Julia Savill, Russell Biles, Celia Muir and Mark Freestone amongst other familiar faces. We’re all delighted to be returning to the beautiful Tivoli Theatre for this extended summer season.”
