The fantastical world of Dr Seuss bursts onto the stage this summer when Stagewise Performing Arts presents Seussical Jr as its 2019 annual performance. Taking place at Lighthouse, Poole’s Centre for the Arts on Saturday 20 July, Seussical Jr is the hit musical show based on the children’s stories of Dr Seuss.
Loosely following the storyline of Horton Hears A Who and featuring a host of colourful, much-loved characters including The Cat in the Hat and Horton the Elephant, it offers young performers the chance to shine by taking part in a professionally staged production.
“Seussical Jr is a larger than life musical extravaganza that our students have loved rehearsing,” explains Stagewise Principal Ally Cox. “It has fantastic songs, colourful costumes and is so much fun for all the family!”
Stagewise, whose youth theatre companies are based at Lighthouse, offers performing arts training for young people aged 4-14.
Seusscal Jr follows hot on the heels of recent Stagewise productions including Cats and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Co-conceived by Monty Python’s Eric Idle, this raucous and ultimately touching musical has been specially adapted for children to perform. Its feel good story dares us to think big and reminds us of the power of loyalty, family and acceptance. After all - a person’s a person, no matter how small!
Performances take place at 1pm & 3pm. Tickets are available now from http://www.buytickets.at/stagewise
Stagewise is now accepting applications from students who would like a free 3-week trial of its Young Performers workshops this autumn. For more information contact Ally Cox on 07702 309486.
